Cadaqués Travel Guide

Where to Stay

Casa Es Puig

If you are looking to rent a villa, I recommend Casa Es Puig. It sleeps 9 people and is located 5 min walk from the centre of town and lots of beaches and a 15 min walk from Dali’s house. You can rent directly here: Casa Es Puig

There are a few hotel options:

Hotel Villa Gala is the highest star hotel they have. It is beautiful inside but slightly further out of town which may be preferred in the Summer months due to noise.

Hotel Playa Sol is a beachfront hotel and one of my favourites. They have lovely staff and it’s located 5 min from the centre of town. They have tennis courts and a family pool in the garden.

Although this Hostal is only 1 star, it’s really nice inside. It’s right in the centre of town and the owners are lovely. We use this a lot for guests who come for weddings/events as you can block out rooms: Hostal Cristina

Things to do

Salvador Dali House

Dali lived in Cadaquésfor more than 40 years with his wife Gala. His house is in Port Lligat on the beach and you can go for a tour. You can walk there from the town in 15 min and take in the beautiful scenery. Some mornings you may see his boat, Gala taken out for the day.

You can buy tickets in advance here: Tickets

Try Scuba Diving

I tried Scuba Diving for the first time in Cadaqués. I learned with both diving centers and recommend them both.

Unlike other spots, you learn directly in the sea! The owners are absolutely amazing and I felt so safe the entire time.

My favourite centers to go with:

Diving Center Cadaques

Cadaques Divers

Cap de Creus

My favourite thing to do is walk to Cap de Creus. It is a direct route from town and takes about 2.5 hours each way.

You can drive there but you have to have a restaurant reservation, otherwise you can take the bus.

It is the oldest lighthouse in Spain and there is an amazing beach below that you can stop at for a swim.

I definitely recommend booking a table for lunch to take in the views. They usually have live music in the Summer so have a look on their Instagram page to keep up to date.

Book here: Cap de Creus Restaurant

Take a Boat Trip

The Sant Isidre is a llaüt, a traditional Catalan wooden lateen sailing boat, built in 1925. In recent years it has been lovingly restored and refurbished and is sailed by a crew of skippers from Cadaqués.

Sant Isidre can be booked out for a half day or full day but it is quite expensive. You can also buy a ticket and go onboard in the Summer to listen to live music with a cocktail.

I recommend going on one of their trips, tickets are usually 20 euros each. You can book here: Sant Isidre

Bellamar Cadaqués

is an old Catalan fishing boat restored only a few years ago.

Edu offers amazing guided trips on the boat. My recommendation is so try the sunrise or sunset trip. He provides wine and delicious local tapas and takes you to the best spots to watch the sun go down.

More info here: Bellamar

Restaurants

This is one of the more expensive restaurants but it has the most delicious food. They offer tapas style food with fresh ingredients from the market. The staff give great recommendations but I do suggest having the steak tartare and croquets. I recommend booking during the day and asking for a seat looking out to sea.

They don’t have a website yet but you can call and book. Reviews here: Talla

My all time favourite restaurant. If you are looking for somewhere for a special occassion I definitely recommend trying Compartir.

Oriol, Mateu and Eduard met almost 20 years ago in the internationally renowned elBulli restaurant's kitchen.

In 2012, they decided to associate themselves with and make a thought that had been around for a long time by the mind: to have their own restaurant. Thus, in April 2012, the Compartir restaurant was born.

I recommend trying their tasting menu BUT don’t eat lunch beforehand as you will be very full.

You can view the menu & book here: Compartir

Raviyu was opened by 3 friends; Rafa, Victor and Yuma, locals from Cadaqués.

It is a restaurant loved by tourists and locals and is full every night of the week. You will most likely see the owners chatting to the locals or baking some pizzas in the kitchen.

I recommend trying their famous Raviyu pizza and their fries. They offer really good vegetarian options too! My favourite thing about Raviyu is their food is delicious, the staff are amazing but it’s great value for money.

They also have a new outdoor seating area which you can book for Summer.

I advise booking ahead over the phone but they will be sure to get you a table if you don’t mind waiting.

Rebost opened last year and already has a loyal following.

Rebost is slightly more expensive than some of the other restaurants. Rebost has a small amount of tables so it’s really intimate. One of the owners manages the restaurant and can give you great recommendations and service.

I recommend trying their house wine and their steak.

You can book over the phone: Rebost

Mut

Mut is my favourite tapas spot for lunch. You usually have to queue as they don’t take bookings but it’s so worth it.

The tapas is delicious and I recommend trying the goat cheese salad & tuna tartare with guacamole.

Note: they only take cash!

Bars

Boia Nit

Boia is a cafe in the day time but turns into an amazing cocktail bar in the evening.

They serve amazing new cocktail recipes and tapas with a view of the sea. The staff are all amazing and the selection of cocktails on the menu is vast.

I recommend sitting at a table on the beach and ordering one of their new margaritas.

Brown Sugar

Brown Sugar was opened over 10 years ago and is a favourite among the locals. They serve amazing juices and lunch during the day and at night they offer cocktails and live music.

I love sitting outside and listening to someone sing or play the guitar.

Frontera

If you are looking for more of a night out, this is the place to start. All of the clubs are located on the same street. Frontera is more expensive than other bars but during the Summer it’s a great place to sit outside with friends and enjoy Cadaqués.

Best Beaches

Platja Llane Gran

This beach is lovely for the first half of the day as the sun starts there. It’s great swimming and usually you can find space to sunbathe.

La Platja Ros

One of the more sandy beaches, this is a local favourite. The sun sets last here so you want to spend the second half of your day here. It’s a great spot for an evening picnic.

Far de Cala Nans

This is a wonderful beach to visit but you do need to hike there. It takes about 40 min and I have done it in flip flops.

I also recommend going there by boat.

Shopping

My favourite shop is Cadaques Divers. It opened a few years ago and has the best selection of jewellery, shoes, headbands and clothing. I definitely recommend trying their hair ties they sell at the front, I am obsessed.

Have you seen the shoes Dali used to wear? These are still a staple among the locals. You can buy them here: S'espardenya de Cadaqués

I really like going to Mo for interiors; plates, bowls, candles etc.

If you are looking for a few cheaper things to take home, I love this shop: Colmado they sell lovely cushions, baskets etc.
